![]() ![]() ![]() I apologize in advance - I know very little about religious terminology so I hope you can forgive me if I get this wrong - there was an elevated pulpit (where the minister would preach from) and two levels of pews for the congregation. We heard about the Easter sunrise service - chilly but I bet it would be inspiring. The church is only open to the public for tours on the first Sunday of the month in June, July, August and September, however you may be lucky enough to be there on a Sunday when a service takes place. 20+ inch boards of clear pine - not a knot in site, old wood stoves for heating that could accommodate 4 foot logs, weighted windows (to assist in opening and closing), a display of the original tools used to create some of the woodworking, a bible from the 1600's. My husband had worked in the stone industry for almost 4 decades, and the masonry on the exterior of this old church was exquisite and interested both of us to explore more! Today, we finally got to tour the interior, and the drive was well worth it. It was a long weekend, we had no previous obligations, the weather was perfect, and everything we had wanted to see in the fall was now open, especially the Old Stone Church National Histortic Site. There were a number of attractions we intended to revisit in the area when they were open - this being one - and today fit the bill. We visited this historic site in November 2018, but we could only see the building from the outside. ![]()
